About the photographer

"I've been a passionate professional photographer for over 20 years. My skills as a photojournalist have been sharpened over 2 decades of award-winning reportage for newspapers & magazines in Australia.

My fascination with cameras & photography began as a 15-year-old high school student. I took a job emptying industrial garbage bins and compacting cardboard cartons at a local department store, just to save up enough money to buy my 1st SLR film camera. Every dollar I made went to buying a new lens, film & processing. I still remember that anxious & excited feeling picking up my prints from the camera shop every time, to find out how my  photographic experimentations turned out.

The more I learned about photography, the more I realised just how much more there was to learn! My obsession was serious enough for me to enrol (& graduate) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, where I majored in photography. University exposed me to the greats of photojournalism like Capa, Cartier-Bresson, Doisneau, & Eisenstaedt, amongst others. I realised then the importance of photography in documenting and capturing important moments in history, nature & time. But probably the most important lesson I learned was that the best images didn't necessarily come from conflict zones, or scenes of famine, or some celebrity. The best images can be found outside your door, across the road & across town.

Please take a moment to click on the 'Porftfolio' link in the menu, and check out my diverse selection of images. I have been lucky enough to receive National & International awards for my images in news, sport, portrait, feature, illustrative and landscape genres. I hope you enjoy the collection - I've certainly enjoyed capturing all those great moments!"
